Hablaba y hablaba – Max Aub

Hablaba, y hablaba, y hablaba, y hablaba, y hablaba, y hablaba, y hablaba. Y venga hablar. She talked, and talked, and talked, and talked, and talked, and talked, and talked. And talked more. I’m a woman who likes being at home, but that fat maid didn’t do anything but talk, and talk, and talk. Wherever I was, she’d come and start talking. She talked about everything and anything, it didn’t matter to her. Fire her for that? I’d have had to pay her those three months. On top of that, she’d have been well capeable of giving me the evil eye. Even in the bathroom: did I know that this was this, that that was that, about that over there. I stuffed the towel in her mouth so she’d shut up. It wasn’t that that killed her, but not talking: the words tore her appart from the inside.
